Reissue day #53: Rockaway Beach

Rockaway Taco by @85lives  - text copied from the soundcloud.

Sing eternal words.
The Word.

David's lament's are fitting in times like these.
 From Psalms 10:
1 Why, LORD, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?
2 In their arrogance the wicked hunt down the weak, catching them in the schemes they devise.
3 They boast about the cravings of their hearts; they bless the greedy and revile the LORD.
4 In their pride the wicked do not seek him; in all their thoughts there is no room for God. 5 Their ways are always prosperous; your laws are rejected by[b] them; they sneer at all their enemies.
6 They say to themselves, “Nothing will ever shake us.” They swear, “No one will ever do us harm.”
- Right?
Oppression of the greedy is nothing new, and these words penned thousands of years ago echo so many of our sentiments today.

The answer is not in playing their game better than them, it's in believing in the Lord and knowing He is really in charge.

  *Read the bible for yourself*

Recorded as "71011 - skim jets"
Alan did the foundational jazz beat, Creed did a bass lead, audible in headphones. - but the track was a mess in the morning.
Edward, thru the Holy Spirit, laid surf bass, guitar, synth and vocals in the morning of 9/11.

The lyrics; why be cliche and sing about your girl or (even more common still, "sing your life") or blasé nonsense.
I ♥ the folks @qpeeps.
The remind of the summers I wish I had. The title came from them.
The artwork is the Exxon Tiger at Hill St. Exxon on Toco Hills, as seen by Tiny World.

May God speak to you thru this jam, may your head bob and may you it rest at the top of your most listened to playlists.

Locals only!

What a great day, total great yield!

Psalm 4

For the director of music. With stringed instruments. A psalm of David.

[a]1 Answer me when I call to you,
   my righteous God.
Give me relief from my distress;
have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
2 How long will you men turn my glory into shame?
How long will you love delusions and seek false gods[b]?[c]
3 Know that the LORD has set apart his faithful servant for himself;
the LORD hears when I call to him.
 4 Tremble and[d] do not sin;
when you are on your beds,
search your hearts and be silent.
5 Offer the sacrifices of the righteous
   and trust in the LORD.
6 Many, LORD, are asking, “Who will bring us prosperity?”
Let the light of your face shine on us.
7 Fill my heart with joy
when their grain and new wine abound.
8 In peace I will lie down and sleep,
   for you alone, LORD,
   make me dwell in safety.

Psalms 4 set to a radical music score (after all it was written "For the director of music. With stringed instruments").
I like using scripture for lyrics, since I believe these are eternal words, perhaps setting them to my music will make my music out live me.

fauché s'entretenir (role edit)

Enjoy the lunchtime hate.

Current fear:

28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

- Romans 1: 28 -32

Hopefully I have not went to far.

süße (Thundering isolation)

... I digestively broke down the creation of this track here.

... the vocals were only fitting, given the whole insight into creation theme:

Genesis 1

The Story of Creation
1 In the beginning, when God created the universe,[a]2 the earth was formless and desolate. The raging ocean that covered everything was engulfed in total darkness, and the Spirit of God[b] was moving over the water.3 Then God commanded,
Let there be light—and light appeared.4 God was pleased with what he saw. Then he separated the light from the darkness,5 and he named the light
         Day and the darkness
Night. Evening passed and morning came—that was the first day.
   6-7Then God commanded,
Let there be a dome to divide the water and to keep it in two separate places—and it was done. So God made a dome, and it separated the water under it from the water above it.8 He named the dome
Sky. Evening passed and morning came—that was the second day.
   9 Then God commanded,
Let the water below the sky come together in one place, so that the land will appear—and it was done.10 He named the land
Earth, and the water which had come together he named
Sea. And God was pleased with what he saw.11 Then he commanded,
Let the earth produce all kinds of plants, those that bear grain and those that bear fruit—and it was done.12 So the earth produced all kinds of plants, and God was pleased with what he saw.13 Evening passed and morning came—that was the third day.
   14 Then God commanded,
Let lights appear in the sky to separate day from night and to show the time when days, years, and religious festivals[c] begin;15 they will shine in the sky to give light to the earth
—and it was done.16 So God made the two larger lights, the sun to rule over the day and the moon to rule over the night; he also made the stars.17 He placed the lights in the sky to shine on the earth,18 to rule over the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God was pleased with what he saw.

sleep well brother James

Sleep well brother James

Inspired by James Sadlowski, with his encouraging word of God:
For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.
Isaiah 41:13

Produced on 12/13/11 under the influence of depression, nasal drip and eventually the love and
tender word of God.

Check out some of the lovely hater comments I've recently received.... proof  I'm onto something.

Debating weather or not I should publish this. Either way, someone was moved (in the not desired direction, but still moved).

God bless you, enjoy the music, all glory to God.

let it go already

First track from a new collection; The beginning The beginning

let it go already by @85lives

 The lyrics are flawless

1 In you, LORD my God,
   I put my trust.
 2 I trust in you;
do not let me be put to shame,
nor let my enemies triumph over me.
3 No one who hopes in you
will ever be put to shame,
but shame will come on those
   who are treacherous without cause.
4 Show me your ways, LORD,
   teach me your paths.
5 Guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you all day long.
6 Remember, LORD, your great mercy and love,
for they are from of old.
7 Do not remember the sins of my youth
   and my rebellious ways;
according to your love remember me,
   for you, LORD, are good.
 8 Good and upright is the LORD;
therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.
9 He guides the humble in what is right
   and teaches them his way
Psalm 25

Further, my brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord!

Further, my brothers and sisters,
rejoice in the Lord!
Further, my brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord!
Philippians 3

Today's New International Version (TNIV) Philippians 3

 No Confidence in the Flesh
1 Further, my brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord! It is no trouble for me to write the same things to you again, and it is a safeguard for you. 2 Watch out for those dogs, those evildoers, those mutilators of the flesh. 3 For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh— 4 though I myself have reasons for such confidence. If others think they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: 5 circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; 6 as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless. 7 But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.

el Cordero

Revelation 5
The Scroll and the Lamb
1 Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals. 2 And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, "Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?" 3 But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. 4 I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. 5 Then one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals."

6 Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing in the center before the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits [a] of God sent out into all the earth. 7 He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. 8 And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God's people. 9 And they sang a new song, saying:
"You are worthy to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
because you were slain,
and with your blood you purchased for God
members of every tribe and language and people and nation.

10 You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God,
and they will reign [b] on the earth."

11 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. 12 In a loud voice they were saying:
"Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!"

13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying:
"To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be praise and honor and glory and power,
for ever and ever!"

14 The four living creatures said, "Amen," and the elders fell down and worshiped.

Choose Life

Originally recorded as standz, the chorus changed all that. Katie turned me on to Deuteronomy 30; and although I'm Hebrew (by birth), I felt His presence when I read it this morning. Good stuff.

The mastering wasn't as on as I'd like but we'll just bury that in the mystery jar. The chorus is clear and the sense of longing and waiting in the intro is present.

Wow. I'm about to leave to pay for the sins of my past and I don't know when I'm coming back but this is an essential step to becoming a forthright citizen (employable and such)

but Right before I go....

Saying 15

Be somebody to be already. Make up your mind, quit being the sucker sap loosing your lunch to the bully in the cafeteria. Don't bury your aggression in passive-aggressive internet lash-outs; suit up and boot up, cut/style the mop and get a job.
Why go to jail? God will help you, just do the right thing; you know what to do. Listen, this is not a Tony Robbins moment but still, it's sink or swim, survival of the fittest - and if you're anything it's definitely fit.

Take Saying 15 to heart

when you on the down low.

The Light

This is the jam

Listen; all that woe is me crap has to go. Greater men have suffered through worse and the Lord did not let them down, even when it seemed like there was no chance for survival or success. Stay the course, keep focused; get stronger and better; speak truth, live truth and do not even think about forsaking Him once he helps you out of your self created hell.

The Light

BSWS

I've got to say this quick; Morrissey's suedehead is on indie 103 and my top of the morning depression and longing is starting to fade... and I was so counting on it to help me explain to you the BSWS story.

In the fall of 2007, I became unemployed (and opted to stay that way since I had the means and was facing a Christmas divorce - thanks santa).

This is the weeks after the Los Angeles Detour 2007 festival and Zee LC.

Black Socks White Shoes was a depression soaked electo music. It wasn't quite suicidal; it still had money in the bank and was looking forward to 2008 in Silverlake.

Joanna Nesbitt, a special person I met a hot Thursday August night during the summer of 2007 at El Bar instantly liked the title. Here's some of BSWS's highlights.

Sorry, I can't dialogue more, the feeling's gone.

All I ever really wanted was you:

All I ever really wanted was you was clearly written out of longing for my dear first wife, Cindy. I was waking up everyday in the house I bought her seeing her dance and love and our children crawl, walk, run and have Christmas where I was now lost and alone. At the time of this writing I am over her but for some reason have been haunted by her the last two nights.
Only time will prove weather or not those were the best years of my life. It has to get better than this.

quick-note about the art:: it's all original (of course) and each track came with it's only BSWS shade, as seen here...

PS130:

PS130 is actually from the Bible; Psalms 130:

Hope in the LORD's Redemption
A Song of degrees.

Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD.

2 Lord, hear my voice:
let thine ears be attentive
to the voice of my supplications.

3 If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities,
O Lord, who shall stand?
4 But there is forgiveness with thee,
that thou mayest be feared.

5 I wait for the LORD,
my soul doth wait,
and in his word do I hope.

6 My soul waiteth for the Lord
more than they that watch for the morning:
I say, more than they that watch for the morning.

7 Let Israel hope in the LORD:
for with the LORD there is mercy,
and with him is plenteous redemption.

8 And he shall redeem Israel
from all his iniquities.

Deep dark stuff.... hopeful, true; but still dark and longing.
