Norwiegian eyes
Norwigian Eyes is potentially the earliest hit I could ever recall recording; and it was done with the most amount of players I have yet to work with.
Steve was on bass, Scott played drums and sang the ending., Bekka did intro harmonies and exit harmonies as well as tambourine; I played the purest guitar I think I've ever played (and that's as close to horn toot-ing I'm going to come). I did the body vocals.
Steve's bass lines were backbone and complete required. It was recorded on Sony reel to reel tape from the 60's (found it in Inman Park on Irwin; there's a whole story there), the song is sort of about the cover art's beauty; the young Cindy Lund, oh how I loved her. The cover photo was taken in Manhattan on some viney cast-iron garden on the upper west side. I just bought her the butterfly necklace. We were having a time roaming thru Manhattan streets and trains.
Track notes say it was recorded in the fall of 96 but I recall it being the Holidays of 96; Arizona was a few months old and we have a 2/1 in Grant Park; it had a large living room, that led to a dining room, to the kitchen and bedroom/bath. The dining room had been converted into the Teal room; recording space for a great band that never played out (my God is that ever familiar). We were able to play till the wee hours of the night, as long as everything sounded good the neighbors were ok with it.
The girls would sit in the living room and talk and watch TV with the volume down (you couldn't hear anything but the band when we played), but we were all young and carefree so this was completely acceptable.
Enough of all that, here's Norwiegian eyes
