this is how we do it (part 4)

Fourth in a series of demo creation, tagged how to's.
RJ 86 demonstrates how a great drum and bass rhythm can get wasted with overly fuzzy guitars.
I still sorta like it but I don't think it'll be more than demo in it's current state.

The bass made me go back to my skateboarding winters in Arizona with my bro RJ. You could download it if you really get stoked on it.

Why you checking on me?

... a revision from programmed to run at a certain point.
 See you in the office.

Monday, December 26, 2011

programmed to run at a certain point.

An entire E.P. delivered, received, recorded, produced and delivered

-within a short few hours.

Total freshness and confidence in the rising Lord.

Programmed to run at a certain point.

Creed brought, the heaviness of our days, particularly with relationships
(and potentially aging).

He did this from behind the 322 house kit, iconically mic'd.

Edward brought the anticipation of great things from God,
and a lack of focus of the days troubles (all the whole taking stock of the next moments).

I did this from midi-sequencing, synth-looping, sampled-percussion-pads.
And then I did production, getting to you here now.

Creed showed up at about 16:13:52 on 12/27/11

I will now click save, its 18:51:13

this is how we do it (part 3)

Here we are with the third howto, this is still demo but how it was made so far was:
Foundation laid with a very pinback bassline, followed by layers of MPC drums
and concluded with pre-written Ramone-ish lyrics of happy dependence on God.

 That's not a synth from 1:45 on, that's a modulated p-bass.

First day of winter, 2011

.... This is nice.
I can see such a progression from where I was a year ago, although I still totally like that stuff.

It was like I just discovered sampling.

Then when you look back to this date in 2009, wow... development.
There was always a tune, always something there, but its just getting more defined and growing. ... Not to mention, our first winter, 2008.

God is good!

Thanks for your love of the older stuff.

sleep well brother James

Sleep well brother James

Inspired by James Sadlowski, with his encouraging word of God:
For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.
Isaiah 41:13

Produced on 12/13/11 under the influence of depression, nasal drip and eventually the love and
tender word of God.

Check out some of the lovely hater comments I've recently received.... proof  I'm onto something.

Debating weather or not I should publish this. Either way, someone was moved (in the not desired direction, but still moved).

God bless you, enjoy the music, all glory to God.

session 3

On 12/3/11 Alan, Creed and I had our last session before Creed moved.
Alan loved the set in it's entirety enough to mention it weeks later.
It hasn't even completely picked over yet, but nyet from ACHTUNG can be heard in this set.

Alan's trademark beats can be heard powering thru the playful experimentation.
Creed's shoegazing bass cannons in and out, not believing, believing, understanding.

This was the third session that day at 322, the rays were drenched with our sonic.

 This bud's for you.

136mb download

This could be anywhere

The instrumental behind cross-fit, I think I might like it more. I'll add a mimmal lyric version as bonus mat on ACHTUNG.

bitter winter

So, this could be a part III of the how-to's...

I basically took the little depressive mix produced at FTC this afternoon
 - added some more synth, thickened up the back end..

whala.

Music to end your miser to.

BSWS

.... this is pre-85lives,like 2007. Wish I know the myspace username/password

this is how we do it (part 2)

... in this howto I'll show how my typical mixes work.
So far this one is titled bitter winter.
I rarely directly state source in title (or this would be Cruel Summer role remix)... this is because of several reasons:
  1. I'm too small for anyone to notice
  2. I don't give a fuck
  3. I'm too small for anyone to notice
  4. I like being mysterious and shit.

Sorry for all the explicits, I'm really bummed right now.

My working poor reality is not working and I'm sober and have probably been logged out for too lunch too long.

Enjoy the hypnotic sadness.

Brad provided engineering assistance on this. From 322 on 12/10/11.

ICE & SNO - BRO

We'll get back to the process, but (here's a teaser for the new production's direction?)

this is how we do it (part 1)

Many thanks to the boys and girls who have enjoyed LOSERS, that stats are blowing up - Glory to God!

On to another project.

I will now walk you thru the process.
The drums on this demo (Brothers) are solid Eastern European bloc, via France.
You could hear the last traces of cold war winters, as Parisians diplomats and old money royalty meet.

The bass is all surfer, Los Angeles county. Carefree student loan money well spent.

The next layers should be later this evening.

Just thought it would be cool for you to hear the process.

Hi. If this is your first time here, be sure to check out the Guide to 85 Lives... it'll help you navigate thru the content, of course you can just browse and click all day if you want to, that's fine.

If you wanna go straight to the hits, go to scarrzz.

If you want to book, collaborate, or simply communicate with any of the artist listed here, let us know, we're open to playing festivals and traveling to see you.
